Paper server hosting

The high-performance plugin server: players join with a completely vanilla client while you run plugins server-side. Pay only while it runs.

Why host your Paper server on Campfire?

Paper is the performance-focused server software built on Spigot and Bukkit. It runs plugins - economies, land claims, minigames, Dynmap - entirely server-side, so your players connect with an ordinary vanilla client and nothing to install.

It is also the fastest way to run a vanilla-feeling server: Paper's optimizations mean smooth TPS on modest hardware, which keeps your hourly price down. A small survival server with a handful of plugins is comfortable on our cheapest packages.

Campfire supports Paper right up to the latest Minecraft release. Drop plugin .jar files into the plugins folder via the web File Manager or FTP, restart, and you are live on your free subdomain.

Which package for your Paper server?

Prices are per hour of server uptime - change packages anytime. See the full breakdown on the pricing page.

Start a Paper server in four steps

  1. Create your server. Pick Paper as the platform and choose your Minecraft version.
  2. Add plugins. Upload plugin .jar files to the plugins folder via the web File Manager or FTP, then restart to load them.
  3. Share your free subdomain. Players join with a normal vanilla client - nothing for them to install.
  4. Join and play. Auto-start on join, auto-stop when empty. You are only billed for the minutes the server is online.

Paper hosting questions, answered

What is the difference between Paper and vanilla or Spigot?

Paper is a drop-in replacement for the vanilla server built on Spigot: same gameplay, dramatically better performance, plus support for the Bukkit/Spigot plugin ecosystem. Worlds are compatible, and players connect with a normal vanilla client.

Do my players need to install anything?

No. Plugins run entirely on the server, so anyone on the matching Minecraft version can join with an unmodified client - that is the big advantage of a plugin server over a modded one.

How do I install plugins?

Upload plugin .jar files to the plugins folder using the web File Manager or FTP, then restart the server. Full walkthrough: Paper plugins guide.

Can a Paper server run Forge or Fabric mods?

No - Paper runs plugins, not loader mods. If you want content mods, host a Forge, NeoForge, or Fabric server instead. Some hybrid use cases are covered by plugins with similar features.

How much RAM does a Paper server need?

Paper is efficient: 3–4GB (Coal or Copper) handles a small survival server with several plugins, and 5–6GB (Quartz or Iron) covers most plugin suites. Big communities with map rendering or minigames benefit from 8GB+.

Can I move my existing server to Paper on Campfire?

Yes - Paper reads vanilla and Spigot worlds directly, so most migrations are just an upload. Move your world and plugins over with the web File Manager or FTP, or contact support and we will migrate your files from your current host for free.
